How does the Tango appeal to so many different groups of people simultaneously?
Everyone finds the tango to be fun, sexy, and passionate!
I believe a great musical performance can transcend pre-established tastes in the same way that Michael Jackson's Thriller album was so popular worldwide to people of all ages and backgrounds. I've personally witnessed some of the new tangos, called tango nuevo, have the same captivating effect on multiple crowds which is why I'm such a devotee to this art. I love seeing people get the same thrill out of the same music that's been with me through thick and thin.
Not only tangos have it but there is a magic in the air quite unexplainable when people are charmed by the sweet melodies of Italian art songs and old romantic classics. My mom told me I should have been born in the twenties era because of my pervading obsession with older music. Please allow me to share that love and sense of beauty with you at your next event. Most of us could use an imaginary trip to Italy, France, Germany or Argentina for once in our lives which is what people tell me they feel like when listening to me play my Bandoneon, that accordion like instrument in the pictures. It is an early 1900's antique with a great long story behind it, a perfect conversation piece for breaking the ice with dinner parties.
