SPONTANEITY
Paul has been going to weddings since he was about eight years old, assisting his father, from whom he first learned the craft of photography. Having been around photography all his life, Paul knows the importance of your wedding memories. His style is a more natural one — less predictable in manner. Instead of being pushy like many “traditional” wedding photographers; he prefers to blend in and capture those moments unique to your day. His past clients agree: they report an ease in working with him, resulting in a natural reflection of their day. He produces photographs that are sensitive and spontaneous rather than contrived and affected, going beyond the common series of wedding portraits.

ARTISTRY
As an artist, holding both BFA (1989) and MFA (1991) degrees from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Paul continues to show his dramatic black and white photography in many venues around the country, ranging from the Detroit Focus Gallery to the Cameraworks Gallery in San Francisco. His work is held in many important collections: The National Parks and Conservation Association (Washington D.C.), and the Art Institute of Chicago name two. The later awarded him the prestigious James Nelson Traveling Fellowship in 1991. His work had also been recognized by his peers: it won Best of Show at the Michigan Professional Photographer’s Annual Exhibition and was featured in the 1995 Michigan Friends of Photography Annual Review.

PROFESSIONALISM
Paul has a commercial background as well, a fact that contributes to his edge — while in Chicago Paul was a photographic assistant at Playboy Magazine as well as several fashion and corporate studios. Paul studied in Atlanta with Denis Reggie, noted society and celebrity wedding photographer (photographer of all the Kennedy weddings), proclaimed by Town and Country magazine as “the great wedding photographer of our day”. Paul himself was chosen as one “of the areas best wedding shooters” by Style Magazine; his work featured in their Spring 1998 Bridal Issue. Since then, he has been retained by Style Magazine to cover numerous society events in the Detroit area where he has photographed many Detroit notables. In addition, Paul has been commissioned to photograph a number of celebrities using his unique style, ranging from film star Tom Cruise to Olympic diver Greg Louganis, to political figures such as Presidential candidates Bob Dole and Jack Kemp, House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, Michigan Governors Blanchard and Engler, and in the spring of 1998 the visit to Detroit of Vice-President Al Gore.

PERFECTIONISM
Paul is a perfectionist. He uses only the top quality equipment and materials. His equipment manufacturers include Mamiya and Nikon, materials are from Kodak and Fuji professional lines. Wedding photograph albums are handmade by leading album companies. After the album is personally designed by Paul, all photographs for it are printed to exacting standards.
