Belly Dancers

Sira began her training in Middle Eastern dance in 1991. Her Armenian heritage greatly inspired her to explore her roots, in not only her culture, but in the dance itself.

She began her training at Serena Studios and expanded her own unique style by studying with different teachers.

She has been a member of many dancepanies such as Serena's dance co., Jehan's Goddess Dancepany, Mystical Motion dancers, Benat Nessma dance co., and Shoshana's dance theaterpany.

Sira has also studied Middle Eastern music history and theory, which is important in order to be a well-rounded and grounded musical dancer and teacher.

Sira began teaching since 1998, Her classes focus on fluid movements, control of various hip movements, feeling the music from the soul and most importantly, having fun!

Sira has performed in theatrical settings as well as clubs, restaurants and private parties. Some places include the Russian Tea Room, Bowery Bar, Rainbow Room, The Knitting Factory, Ibis Supper Club and Cedar's of Lebanon, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music, Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park, Queens Theater in the Park, and Spring Garden Arts Theater (England).

Sira has performed for celebrities such as Liam Neeson, Wyclef Jean (who also hired Sira back again to perform at his wife's birthday bash), Claire Danes, the cast of Sex and the City, Tom Jones, and famous Egyptian singer Hakim.

Sira has also performed excusively for Saudi Arabian royalty in London and for all the Ambassadors to over 20 countries to the U.N. at a celebration of Egyptian culture in 2001.

Sira's Special skills include teaching, choreography, the use of props such as sword, cane, zils, veil, candles, wings, tambourine, scarves, and tray.
