In Howard Inn Washington D.C. Richard appeared in the musical hit Cole To Cole directed and produced by Victoria Howard. Richard was very much at home singing the works of songwriter and composer Cole Porter in New York City's Theatre East and Sweetwater's. He is a common fixture in Boston's nightclub scene and has performed on stage in Paris, France.

On stage, Evans earned a role in the Boston production of Kurt Weil's Lost In The Stars directed by renowned choreographer Bill T. Jones. In addition, he sang as a lead character in Boston's longest running gospel performance of Black Nativity. His musical career was strengthened as a soloist in Gospel at the Pops, directed by Charles Floyd, supporting vocalist in Slavery Documents directed by David Hoose and Scott Joplin's Treemonisha.
