We evoke the '30's and '40's with an elegant sense of swing, hip arrangements, and big bands and swing bands music in New York.
Sarah King and The Smoke Rings are known as 'The Biggest Little Swing Band In New York City!' They are a Brooklyn based Jazz and swing band bringing authentic and enticing sounds to Jazz lovers everywhere! The Smoke Rings evoke the elegance and charm of the Swing Era.
Sarah King and The Smoke Rings play music that expresses their Love of The Great American Songbook. Sarah King's vocal style is unique, but thoroughly rooted in the jazz tradition. Occasionally she adds an extra dimension to the instrumental sound of the band through her expert ukelele playing. The band features Alex Levin on piano, Scott Ritchie on bass, and Ben Cliness on drums. These marvelous sounds work together to cast an inexplicably pleasurable spell upon your guests. Upon request, the trio is able to expand to a quartet with drums or a quintet with the addition of saxophone or guitar. The group has won over audiences all over the U.S. all the way from New York City to El Paso, Texas. Featuring stellar and unique Jazzy vocals accompanied by the timeless combination of piano, bass and drums, The Smoke Rings are sure to enchant your guests.
Our top notch Jazz stylings, attention to detail, and smooth sounds will be a hit at your function. We are thrilled to help you cater a playlist according to your needs - we will learn any songs that you request, even if it's in Chinese! (Yes, that really did happen!)
We perform weekly at the iconic Top of The Standard--aka "The Boom Boom Room"--on the top floor of New York's famed and luxurious Standard Hotel. The Smoke Rings also play Wednesdays at the shabby-chic French bistro Chez Oskarin Fort Greene. We are available for everything from wedding receptions to music festivals.
