A 2006 graduate of Mooseburger Clown Camp in Buffalo, Minnesota, Sonnie and her younger sister Harrianne Johnson, who lives in Alabama, are clowns and face painters.
Moose Camp is owned and operated by former Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey clown Pricilla Mooseburger (Tricia Manuel), and she teaches Clown Arts Education along with friends she has known through many years traveling with the circus and clowningmunity. Pricilla made Sonnie's clown costume and is well-known for her artistic ability in costuming.
Sonnie has been taught by such greats as Christian clown Brenda Marshall, expert storyteller Mary Ann Porter, Marcella Murad (better known around the world as Mama Clown and creator of Silly Farm), Rex Nolen, and former Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey clowns Mooseburger, Karen Bell, Christopher Hudert, and Mark Renfroe.
Sonnie attends the International Face Painting Convention every year and has studied face painting with Marcella Murad, Mark Reid, Jenny, the Wolfe Brothers (Nick & Brian) and many others.
Sonnie has been married for 41 years to Tom Bain, Williamson Countymissioner and former Mayor of Brentwood, Tennessee. Tom's career in Human Resources for Hospital Corporation of America and Vanderbilt University & Medical Center led them in 1987 to open Tom Bain Personnel, a temporary and permanent staffing agency, which they grew from scratch to be one of Nashville's Future 50panies and then sold it to a nationalpany, StaffMark, in 1997.
They have 3 grown sons who are all married and 2 grandchildren, who all think it's great to have a clown and face painter in the family, something unthought-of a few years ago.
