As a child, you were sure to find Andre with crayon in hand and plenty of color outside the lines His eye for color, beauty and style was there from the start. They'd all line up at Andre's for Halloween. But at 17, when he saw his first drag show and the likes of Mable Red Top appeared on stage, it's as though his coloring books had come to life. The face became his canvas and he found his path, or in this case, runway. As a teen, Andre became a student of the raw, unconventional street techniques used in creating drag - the illusion of transforming harsh male features into Madonna, Bette, Cher or some new unknown Exotica. Taping, tucking, shaving and plucking.. and the ability to soften a brow became part of his arsenal. And like the kids on Halloween, the not so femme fatales began to line up at his door as well. Contests, awards, a stellar underground reputation sprung up around him - yet with no formal training, the opportunities looked limited as did his dreams. So after a few years of trying unsuccessfully to snuff out the dream and replace it with responsible grown up work and other distractions, he got back on track and was off to a formal beautyschool education followed by the completion of teachers program. The doors of opportunity flew open. The adventure broadened to include Television (Ambush Makeover, Nice Package, Mating Season), consulting as a Mac Makeup Artist, Local and National Fashion Shows and numerous offers at salons. Yes, the crayon may have changed, but the dream is alive and well. From haute' couture to bridal parties, drag shows in Vegas reviews, stage to film, the canvas of the face is where this artist lives, loves and helps the dreams of other to unfold. And yes, they still line up at Halloween.
