David Crane has been behind a camera since his Grandfather helped him buy his first 35 mm camera at the age of 12. His many years of capturing artistic moments lead him to the love of photojournalism. A very unique style of capturing those fleeting moments in life that we all take for granted. David began receiving awards early on, while working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in commercial photography from Santa Barbara's Brooks Institute of Photographic Art and Science he was granted a Brooks scholarship.

Photojournalism is not only his forte, but his passion. Working in this medium for over 25 years has given him exposure to many varied and often dangerous situations, which has fine tuned his ability to think quickly on his feet and capture "the moment".

David has excelled at news and editorial work with an artistic flair. He has won numerous awards including the National Press Photographer Association "Photographer of The Year". His award winning images have been published throughout the world in major publications including: Time, Newsweek, Life, Rolling Stone, Stern, to name only a few. He photographs Presidents, celebrities, musicians, sports figures and local heroes, and as such, is at ease in any situation.

Several years ago David was approached to shoot a wedding "in his style", no set ups, no posed or canned shots, just document the day as he would an editorial assignment. The resulting photos quickly led to more weddings shot with his unique style. He loves being at ease with clients on their special day and "documenting" it for them. He shoots available light as much as possible and blends in with the event. The resulting portfolio has a unique, artistic style that truly captures the feel of the day.

With the advancement of digital technology, and quality which meets his standards, David increasingly shoots digital, but he will shoot film, b/w, color, 35mm or large format, to meet the needs of the client. All packages include a print-ready DVD or CD and web posting. He will cover your wedding throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties as part of his package price. He is available for travel and location weddings with additional travel fees applied. David is not a wedding photographer who uses a photojournalistic technique, he is a photojournalist.
