I am planning an anniversary party for 60 guests. How much liquor should I buy
In a regular bottle of wine there are 4 glasses. If you don't serve any other alcohol, you should calculate 2.7 glasses per guest. If your guests are heavy drinkers, increase accordingly.

My daughter is having a bat mitzvah. Is the candlelighting ceremony required
There are no rules. There are customs and traditions. I understand your concern. The candlelighting ceremony is an old tradition that usually takes a long time and is pretty boring. I would suggest anyother idea instead: Create a full sized picture of your daughter in her favorite pose, creating a puzzle out of it. Give each of 13 pieces to close family and friends. When each one is called up by name, he/she reads the poem writtten on the back to the audience. Then each piece is placed in the proper location and the final puzzle is complete.

     How can I choose a good D.J.
You should go and listen to him performing at a similar type event to the one you are planning. Going to his office to see videotapes is not good enough.
      ^ TOP ^
How much does a good D.J.cost
The prices are between $300 to $3000 dollars, depending on how many are performing in the D.J.'s group and how popular the group is. For example, for an average wedding of 150 people, the D.J. will cost approximately $800 dollars.
      ^ TOP ^
Which is better, a photographer or a videographer for a party
A photographer is more popular but is you have a video of your event, you always have the option of getting still photos from it. If it is a wedding, you must have a photographer. Before you make the final decision, just consider how many time you will look at your photo album versus how many times you will put the video on.
      ^ TOP ^
Could you recommend an unusual honeymoon
Sorry, not too much knowledge about the latest unusual sites for honeymoons. Check in our travel agent category, but I would like to recommend that you don't leave right away for your honeymoon. Give yourselves a few days to unwind, open presents, etc. before leaving. Happy honeymoon to you!
      ^ TOP ^
How important is it to spend a lot of money on invitations
In my humble opinion, not important at all. But in my thirty years' experience, I can tell you that we spent thousands of dollars for invitations for different parties. The invitation is used for many purposes, not only to give the basic information about the event, but to create a special anticipatory mood for it.
      ^ TOP ^
I am the bride. Do my parents have to pay for the whole wedding
Because of the tremendous expense of puting the wedding together, both sides of the family often contribute and split the expenses today.
      ^ TOP ^
Do I invite the parents of the kids to my six year old son's birthday party
Not really. Most of the parents usually just drop them off and pick them up.
      ^ TOP ^
My family is Jewish but not very religious. Many of my wedding guests eat only kosher food. How do I plan a menu that suits everyone
If you stick to vegetables and grilled fish with scales you will always be safe. Try to serve desserts without cream.
      ^ TOP ^
What kinds of foods do kids prefer at parties
They like hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, chips, cheetos, ice cream and candies like M and M's, candy worms, jaw breakers, warheads, etc.
      ^ TOP ^
What kinds of dresses are appropriate for high school proms
The old formals are out. The new look is dark colors, fairly tight fit, assorted lengths, sleeveless is acceptable. However, one should select with good taste and make sure the dress is not too revealing.
      ^ TOP ^
I've heard the word 'Briss'. What does it mean
The word briss and britt are interchangeable. They both refer to the circumcision ceremony performed on a newborn baby boy of the Jewish faith. The event must be done within eight days after the child's birth.
      ^ TOP ^
     What is Quincinera
Quincinera is popular among the Latin American community. It is a church ceremony for a girl when she turns fifteen, usually followed by a party with family and friends afterward.
      ^ TOP ^
What is 'Dia de los Muertos'
Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday from the state of Oaxaca. On this day families remember their dear departed ancestors. Celebrations are family picnics at the gravesite, making toy skeletons, etc. This day is close to our Halloween.
      ^ TOP ^
     What is Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday commemoring the peasant uprising and victory over Maximillian's soldiers at Puebla.
      ^ TOP ^
What is Bastille Day in France
Bastille Day celebrates the peoples' victory over the opressive royalty governing France during the French revolution. It occurs on July 14th.
      ^ TOP ^
     What is Arbor Day
Arbor Day is a day when we plant trees and think about ecological preservation of nature in the United States.
      ^ TOP ^
How do you organize a party for disabled children
First, you must isolate what the children can and can't do physically. For example, if they are in wheelchairs, there are many kinds of relays and ball passing games that can be utilized. Pick any game and try to adjust the rules to allow them to be able to participate according to their capabilities.
      ^ TOP ^
How to do you make sure that your guests will come to your party appropriately attired (especially kids)
Be very clear and explicit about the dress code in your invitation. Explain why it's important. To protect yourself, have a spare set of clothing available in case someone comes inappropriately dressed. Ask them to change instead of sending them home.
      ^ TOP ^
How do you keep a child's pool party safe
Make up a set of ground rules and send them with the invitations. Review them if necessary at the party. If a child becomes rowdy, call the parent and request that he/she speak to the child about the danger of his behavior to himself and others.
